Divine Mercy Mission Masses near capacity in KCHS chapel

Father Hoan Dinh, left, celebrates Mass on July 15 with members of Divine Mercy Catholic Mission at Immaculate Conception Church, assisted by Deacon Hieu Vinh.

Divine Mercy Catholic Mission recently relocated from its home of nearly two decades, Immaculate Conception Church in downtown Knoxville, to the chapel at Knoxville Catholic High School.

Sunday Masses for the mission that serves the diocese’s Vietnamese community are held at 9 a.m. in the chapel, although crowds may soon lead the community to move to the gymnasium. For a video of a recent Mass in the chapel, click here: https://vimeo.com/53472090.

The mission will have its Christmas Mass at 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, and Mass on Christmas Day at 11 a.m., both in the KCHS gym.

Father Hoan Dinh, who in July was named pastor of the mission, said the relocation was necessary to reach more members, many of whom live in West Knoxville.

Divine Mercy held its first Mass in the KCHS chapel on Sept. 2, and Masses there have been at or near capacity.
