St. John Neumann Parish hosting presentation on Africa mission work

The St. Francis and Clare Fraternity for the Secular Franciscans is sponsoring a presentation on mission work in Africa called “To the Nations” on Sunday, March 19, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at St. John Neumann Church in Farragut in the Elizabeth Ann Seton Room.

Missionary Stephen H. Smith, OFS, will share his story of being called to mission in Uganda and how God has used him and hundreds of missionaries to bring those they come in contact with, including orphans, into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, while providing the simplest of gifts: food, water, clothing, shelter, medical care, visits to the sick and those in prison, and more.

This anointed mission has changed the lives of brothers and sisters in Uganda, Jamaica, Haiti, Mexico, and the United States. While not raising funds, Mr. Smith will accept donations of small toys or stuffed animals and dolls, new underwear of any size, girls’ dresses, skirts, and cash to help purchase the goods they provide while on mission on behalf of those he and his companions minister to.

Diocese of Knoxville parishioners are encouraged to come and see, listen, and be refreshed by this amazing story, as well as learn more about the Secular Franciscan Order.
