KCHS shortstop signs with Middle Tennessee State

Aaron Aucker

Knoxville Catholic High School shortstop Aaron Aucker has signed to play with Middle Tennessee State University.

“I really liked the coaching staff and really wanted to stay in-state and close to home,” Aaron told the Knoxville News Sentinel.

As a junior with the Fighting Irish, Aaron batted .452 with a school-record six triples plus two home runs, and an on-base percentage of .527. He scored 32 runs and stole 22 bases.

Aaron has been a member of the Kansas City Royals scout team and has scrimmaged against four-year and junior-college players for the past two seasons.

He could start right away as a freshman for the Blue Raiders in 2014.

“They [MTSU] said I have a decent shot to come right in and play third or second base,” Aaron told the News Sentinel. “Right now I’m just focusing on having a good senior year in high school. I’m going to take it one step at a time.”
