St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Madisonville, on April 11 at Tellico Village Yacht Club in Loudon, held its first Spring Gala to raise funds to build a family life center.
A total of 154 came to the gala. Bishop Mark Beckman provided a video message for the event, and Deacon Hicks Armor, director of the diocesan Office of Stewardship and Strategic Planning, attended.
The Spring Gala featured a dinner, dancing, and a silent auction. St. Joseph the Worker pastor Father Julius Abuh, director of church operations Mary Beavers, and event co-chairs Eileen Karnes and Kim Ferriter were the evening’s hosts. The gala raised more than $50,000 for the family life center project.
The parish needs the new building as it has experienced a rapid increase in parishioners, evidenced by crowded Masses and limited meeting space, making it challenging to support essential ministries like OCIA, religious education, Bible studies, and various committees.
The family life center will provide much-needed classrooms, a larger hall, a spacious kitchen, private offices, and storage, ensuring that ministries and parish activities can continue to flourish.
