Ruth Ellen Montgomery Edwards, born on June 21, 1965, passed away on June 9 after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.
Mrs. Edwards was a graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School class of 1983 and the University of Tennessee. She had a creative spirit and loved art, and she also had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. She brought her own personality to every room she entered and was never afraid to be herself.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her daughters, Samantha Lacy (Andrew), Tabitha Parker (Roland), and Elizabeth Coleman (Holland); her grandchildren, Gray and Lola Parker and Banks Lacy; her siblings, Elizabeth Santella (Jim), Angela Taylor (Greg), Bob Montgomery (Mindy), Jane Gaffney (Mike, deceased), David Montgomery (Ann), Joanna Dickinson (Scott, deceased), Teresa Feliciano (Gilbert), and Patty Grim (Steve); former mother-in-law, Kay Edwards Zurcher; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Betty Montgomery; her brother, Charles Montgomery; and the father of her children, Robert T. Edwards.
Those who knew Mrs. Edwards will remember her laughter, her creativity, and the moments she shared with the people she loved. Though her family grieves her loss, they find comfort in the memories she leaves behind.
A funeral Mass for Mrs. Edwards was held on June 29 at Holy Ghost Church, with Father John Orr serving as the celebrant. Donations in Mrs. Edwards memory can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
