John Dee Hitt of Knoxville passed away on Dec. 13. He was 73.
Mr. Hitt was a member of Holy Ghost Parish in Knoxville. He also was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as district deputy of District 18 as well as Tennessee faith director, evangelization and faith formation diocese captain, as a Fourth Degree Knight, and past Grand Knight.
He also served as treasurer of the Legion of Mary ministry.
Mr. Hitt was preceded in death by his parents, David and Virginia Hitt. He is survived by his fiancée, Elissa J. Edwards; and cousins, Sheran and Joe Marks, and Brenda Agnew.
A funeral Mass for Mr. Hitt was celebrated on Dec. 16 at Holy Ghost Church, with Father Bill McNeeley serving as the celebrant. Donations may be made in Mr. Hitt’s memory to the Handmaids of the Precious Blood’s Cor Jesu Monastery, 596 Callaway Ridge Road, New Market, TN 37820-3446.
