The first meeting of the 2025-27 Knoxville Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (KDCCW) board was held Sept. 6 in the Shea Room at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
A rosary, prepared by Spirituality Commission chair Mary Wilson, was said before the meeting.
The board consists of four elected officers, all 16 past KDCCW presidents, the four deanery CCW presidents plus two appointed representatives from each deanery, the province director from Louisville to the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW), and a variety of ladies appointed to chair the Spirituality, Leadership, and Service Commissions and other committees.
KDCCW spiritual adviser Father Dan Whitman was also present to provide inspiration, guidance, and prayer. Several guests were in attendance as well.
The KDCCW board meets three times each year to plan conventions, events, and projects and to share reports from the deaneries, commissions, committees, and NCCW. Items of particular importance at this meeting were approving plans for the upcoming KDCCW Spring Event to be held April 18, the 2026 Golden Rose Award, CMG safe-environment training, and improving communications through kdccw.org, Facebook, Dogwood Connect, and many other business items.
Upcoming deanery CCW meetings at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Church in Cleveland, St. Francis of Assisi in Fairfield Glade, Good Shepherd in Newport, and Our Lady of Fatima in Alcoa were noted at the board meeting.
