Dr. Evelyne Davidson

Dr. Evelyne M. Davidson, 65, of Knoxville, passed away on May 28.

Dr. Davidson, who was born on April 5, 1961, was valedictorian of the Knoxville Catholic High School class of 1979. She then studied at Vanderbilt University, attended Quillen-Dishner Medical School in Johnson City, and completed her residency at Hanover Hospital in North Carolina.

Dr. Davidson returned to Knoxville to take over her father’s medical practice, later serving as medical director for Smoky Mountain Hospice and New Phase Research & Development. She was a member of the Knoxville Chapter of The Links Inc.

Dr. Davidson was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Elvyn and Mrs. Davidson.

She is survived by her sister, Pamela Chesney; her brother, Elvyn II (Pamela); nieces and nephews she loved as her own: Robert (Sherra), Aiyana, Abigayle, Elvyn III (Morgan), Benjamin, and Miles; cousins like siblings, Clyde Cowan and Sonya Lopez (Ricky); cousins, Leslie Garner, Kevin Davis, Iris (David) Wallace, and the Marshall families; sister-in-love, Sheretta Dickey; best friend, Barbara Gallagher; close friends, Maxine, Linda, Jonida, Nikki, Pearl, Denise; and caregivers, Latrice, Willie, Armentha, and Sheila.

A Celebration of Life and Legacy service for Dr. Davidson was held on June 9 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Knoxville. A burial service was held on June 10 at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville.
