The annual Joseph E. Fuhr Golf Tournament sponsored by the Ladies of Charity of Knoxville took place on May 7 at Egwani Farms Golf Course in Rockford, and despite rain, the event was a great success.
The tourney drew 24 teams made up of four players each, bringing a total of 96 golfers to the course. The event raised $17,566, and every dollar will go toward fulfilling the Ladies of Charity mission of providing emergency assistance to those in need. The funds will help the Ladies to continue providing food, clothing, rental assistance, and utility assistance to individuals and families throughout the community.
With the school year ending and children home for the summer, the need for assistance often increases for many families. Through the generosity of the golf-tourney supporters, the funds raised will allow the Ladies to purchase enough food to meet the increased demand for the next four months.
The first-place finisher in flight one during the tourney was Team Wright Jr., made up of Jim Wright Jr., Robert Wright, Waldo Broughton, and Brad Hall. The top foursome in flight two was Team Henkel, composed of Jim Henkel, Andrew White, Larry Newman, and Gary Kuhn. Dave Roulier chaired the Ladies of Charity golf committee.
