Ordained in 2001, Father Orr, Father Shelton celebrating 25th jubilees

Two priests ordained for the Diocese of Knoxville in 2001 will celebrate their silver jubilees this month.

Father John Orr and Father Brent Shelton were ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Joseph E. Kurtz on June 16, 2001, at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Now pastor of Holy Ghost Parish in Knoxville, Father Orr will celebrate his 25th anniversary with a Mass at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at the church. A catered dinner will follow in Henkel Hall.

In lieu of gifts, Father Orr prefers people to donate to the renovation of the old Holy Ghost Church into a parish center. To donate, visit tinyurl.com/3jvy9m93.

Father Shelton is now serving in the Diocese of Tyler, Texas. He is temporary administrator of St. Francis of the Tejas Parish in Crockett, Texas, and will become administrator of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Atlanta, Texas, on July 1.

St. Francis of the Tejas will celebrate both Father’s Day and Father Shelton’s 25th anniversary at a breakfast on Sunday, June 14.
