Regina Perez-Cisneros, age 88, passed away on June 23.
Mrs. Perez-Cisneros was a native of Knoxville and a 1955 graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School. She went on to meet the love of her life at the University of Tennessee. Following their marriage and the birth of their three children, they embraced a life of adventure as his engineering career led them abroad.
Together they enjoyed traveling and raising their young children before returning home to Knoxville.
Mrs. Perez-Cisneros was born and raised in the Catholic faith and remained a devoted member of the Church throughout her life. Her faith inspired her service of various roles through the Ladies of Charity organization. She found great joy in learning about history, listening to classical music, and spending time in the mountains of East Tennessee, which she so dearly loved. Above all, she treasured spending time and making memories with her grandchildren as they grew.
Mrs. Perez-Cisneros was preceded in death by her father, Roy Alexander Angel, and her mother, Catherine Kinnane Angel.
She is survived by her three children, daughter Angela Wittenberg (Carl), son John Michael Perez-Cisneros, and daughter Katherine Regina Wolski (David); her grandchildren, Jacob Best-Wittenberg (Annika), Daniel David Wittenberg, Isaac Wittenberg (Alexa Carter), Isiah Wittenberg (Morgan), Samuel Wittenberg, Eleanor Marie Wolski, William Alexander Wolski, and Elizabeth Ann Wolski; and great-granddaughters Rehab and Judah Best-Wittenberg.
A funeral Mass for Mrs. Perez-Cisneros was celebrated on June 26 at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. A burial service followed at Calvary Cemetery in Knoxville.
