St. John Neumann in Farragut is gearing up for a yearlong triple anniversary celebration that includes the parish’s 50-year jubilee.
The parish’s patron was canonized on June 19, 1977, and Bishop James D. Niedergeses of Nashville on July 18 of that year approved the saint as the namesake for the new Catholic community in West Knox County. St. John Neumann Parish in the coming year will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of its school, which opened in August 1997.
St. John Neumann began its celebration with a Sacred Heart enthronement in June, and its golden-jubilee year will run from July 2027 through July 2028. Events will include a 40-hour adoration Jan. 3-5, an opening Mass and parish social in July 2027, a Founder’s Day celebration that September, a children’s pageant in May 2028, and a closing Mass and concert in July. Throughout the jubilee year will be talks on the church’s sacred art and architecture.
The parish will also produce anniversary keepsakes during the year.
