Wofford College right-handed pitcher Alec Bouchard, a graduate of St. Jude School and Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, was selected in the 14th round as the 407th overall pick by the Minnesota Twins in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on July 12.
Mr. Bouchard, a junior pitcher from Soddy-Daisy, was named the 2026 Southern Conference pitcher of the year and received All-SoCon first-team recognition. He posted a league-best 2.83 earned-run average over 86 innings pitched, starting in 15 games with a 9-3 record. He had 104 strikeouts to lead the team and rank second in the SoCon. His nine wins also led the team and tied for first in the league.
For his career at Wofford, he made 55 appearances and 24 starts with a 13-9 record. In 181.2 innings pitched, he had a 4.71 ERA with 197 strikeouts.
“It was great to see Alec selected by the Twins in the MLB Draft,” said Wofford head coach J.J. Edwards. “He worked incredibly hard over the past three years to earn this opportunity and joins an elite group of Terriers to be selected.”
After his 2022 season at Notre Dame High School, Mr. Bouchard was named all-state by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
