Holy Trinity Knights of Columbus receive Four-Star Council Award

Knights of Columbus Council 12838 at Holy Trinity Parish in Jefferson City recently earned the prestigious Four-Star Council Award.

District Deputy Joe Fromme presented Grand Knight Randy LaBauve with the award. To earn the honor, a council must meet specific goals in membership, insurance promotions, and programming. It must also show volunteering time through service-oriented activities.

Over the last several months, the Knights have held a cleanup of the grounds at both Holy Trinity Church and Good Shepherd Church in Newport. Members also cooked lunch for the Special Olympics of Jefferson County and repaired four homes in Jefferson County in conjunction with Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies.

The council also awarded four scholarships to students and this fall will collect for its annual Toot-sie Roll Drive to benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Knights will finish off the year assisting the Christmas in Jefferson County program by assembling, filling, and distributing food boxes to several hundred low-income families and senior citizens.

The Holy Trinity Knights also serve the parish in OCIA and religious education, and as readers and ushers. They have donated to several food banks as well as the St. Jude and Shriners hospitals, Life Outreach Center in Jefferson City, SafeSpace, and Isaiah 117. Over the last two years, the Knights have supported more than 25 organizations that help people in need.
